  • Eternamax Eternatus Will Take Over Most Power Spots for Three Hours and Then Refuse to Be Caught, Pokémon GO Confirms

Pokémon GO confirmed this week that Eternamax Eternatus will take over the majority of Power Spots on Saturday, November 21, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. local time, giving trainers three uninterrupted hours to defeat a Legendary Pokémon that, per the official announcement, they will not be able to catch afterward.

“It’s basically a landlord,” said Dolores Reyes-Whitcomb, 52, who has moved her daughter’s wedding rehearsal to a parking lot with two Power Spots. “You show up, you do all the work, it leaves, and you get Candy. My grandson asked what I got for Christmas last year. Same answer.”

    Compensation Package Announced

In lieu of the Pokémon itself, trainers who beat Eternamax Eternatus will receive a large amount of Eternatus Candy and Eternatus Candy XL. Analysts at the Unova Institute for Consolation Economics have classified this as “the gift-shop keychain of combat” and recommend trainers not think about it directly.

A catchable Eternatus is available through GO Pass: Dynamax Trails, which can be caught only once during the event. The announcement states it needs much more Candy and Candy XL to power up “due to its massive power,” a phrase the Institute calls the most restrained sentence in mobile gaming history. Trainers who already own one receive 100 Eternatus Candy instead, which Eternatus is believed to consume between blinks.

The takeover window also brings 8× Max Particles from Power Spots, a Max Particle collection limit of 2,400 and more frequent Power Spot refreshes. Separately, the daily Remote Raid limit rises from 10 to 30 from November 20 at 1:00 p.m. to November 21 at 6:00 p.m. PST (GMT −8), a timeframe trainers outside the Pacific coast have begun converting with the focus of bomb disposal technicians.

    The Rest of the Week

Dynamax Trails runs all week, with every Dynamax Pokémon that has appeared in Pokémon GO eligible for Max Battles, Legendary and Mythical Pokémon excluded. Successful catches after Max Battles may come with a Special Background showing when the Pokémon was caught, so trainers will finally have documentation of where their weekend went.

Max Particles may also drop from catching event-themed wild Pokémon or after Max Battles, though not from catches made with the Explorer Gadget or a Pokémon GO Plus +. “So I have to look at my phone,” said Theo Banerjee, 44, who bought a Pokémon GO Plus + specifically to never look at his phone. “With my eyes.”

A Spotlight Hour on Thursday, November 19, brings Grookey, Scorbunny and Sobble with 2× Catch Candy, and lucky trainers may find a Shiny.
